Introducing… RS COMMUNICATOR

August 13, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The reclusive composer, Dave Jupiter, was born Hershel James Warren in 1962. As the son of famous pop duo The Blueberries, Hershel was exposed to music at a very young age. He had music in his blood, and consequently was not immune to the infamous alcoholism, violence, and infidelity that plagued the Blueberries career. Hershel became disenchanted with music and was determined to avoid the industry altogether, fearful of what it had done to his parents. At the age of 18 Hershel changed his name to Dave Jupiter and moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he became a certified public accountant.

Dave made good money as an accountant, had a beautiful wife, twin daughters, and lived in a stunning house on Memphis’s northwest side. In short, Dave had it all; but one day he began to hum. He started humming on a Tuesday and hummed the same tune all the way to Saturday, piecing together different layers of a song about a baseball that just wanted a club sandwich. His obsession became undeniable, and he quickly realized his love for music. He left town the next morning, leaving behind his job, his home, his beautiful wife, and his two twin daughters, who most certainly grew up with resentment and abandonment issues.

There is no definitive record of what happened to Dave over the next 19 years. Legends are told of spiritual journeys and hippie communes, travel and adventure. What is known is that on a cold day in November 2001 Dave Jupiter emerged from the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, at the edge of Oradea, Romania, dressed in a Charlotte Hornets jersey and towing behind him a cart of homemade instruments: trumpets fashioned from petrified trees, guitars made of old wine barrels, a calliope made of bird bones, and thousands of pages of musical notation. Following closely behind him were three disciples, all of which had Kool-Aid moustaches.

Finally at peace, Dave Jupiter felt ready to reenter the civilized world. He and his three disciples crab-walked to Barcelona, Spain and moved into a small flat where they have been creating music under the moniker RS Communicator ever since.

Introducing… The Glenwood Collection

August 1, 2008 · 1 Comment

In the year 1997 21st Century Super-Hacker Piggy Stern created a computer consciousness called DARTANIAN. DARTANIAN was coded to display a low form of para-savant intelligence and would represent the pinnacle of Piggy Stern’s career. The intricate and revolutionary programming allowed DARTANIAN to perform only one function: Create MS Paint pictures at the artistic and conceptual level of a child and leave them in a newly created desktop folder called “The Glenwood Collection”.

While attending a seized property auction Funny Blood contributor Fred Pecker saw an item that struck him as particularly valuable: A Compaq Presario with hieroglyphics drawn all over it in gold permanent marker. Fred immediately purchased the item, and upon powering it up discovered a lone folder: The Glenwood Collection. The folder contained a notepad document, which served as Piggy Stern’s personal diary, and hundreds of MS Paint files created by DARTANIAN.

After an impassioned and ignorant debate the Funny Blood Committee on Ethics voted unanimously to open Piggy Stern’s personal diary. We haven’t really read it yet since it’s kind of long, but we’ll probably get to it someday. From what we can figure out by skimming it really fast Piggy Stern was driven mad by DARTANIAN’s art and committed suicide.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to introduce:
